Our unexpected guest is very healthy. Also has great lungs. Just to catch everyone up on the scoop, here's how it happened:
Misty had a routine check-up on Thursday around 2:45 PM. We have been having some issues with her blood pressure for maybe a month now. Misty was diagnosed then with preeclampsia and has been monitored very closely since. I have been concerned about her lately so I decided to tag along for the appt. Misty's blood pressure when we showed up was out of control. If I remember correctly it was 168/108. Immediately, we were rushed to the hospital for some tests. Misty laid down in labor and delivery's triage and was hooked up to some monitors. Soon after some blood tests were ordered. After about an hour misty's blood pressure hadn't dropped at all. Best I can tell in all the commotion, it might have been two hours or so when the doc walked in with the chart and said it was time. Misty just passed the 36 week mark of pregnancy (out of 40), and we couldn't believe what she was saying. Before I knew it, a gown was shoved at me and Misty was wheeled off to surgery.
Everything went well in the OR. Before we knew it Landen was here. This is his first picture with Mommy holding him. The nurses were really positive about his health right away. Also, Mom's blood pressure dropped immediately. Anyhow; with the Lord's help, all is well.
Landen is doing great now. The nurses said he was lucky to stay out of the NICU. They said that almost all 36 week babies go there. Mommy's health is up and down, but she is expected to recover fully with time.
Born April 30, 2009 at 6:35 PM. Landen was 5 lbs 9 oz, 19 inches long. If I can figure out this blog, there should be a ton of pictures up shortly.
